Quizno's Review

I've been here more frequently, now that I'm getting out of my Ono's phase. It was right next door and I always wanted to give it a shot but always went with other options for some reason.

The sandwiches here are actually really good... I like to think it's better than Subway if we're comparing the franchises. The quality of the bread and ingredients definitely trump Subway... at least from what I remember from Subway. The Tuscan Chicken is really good and the turkey sandwiches they have are pretty good as well.

For the 'premium' and 'signature' and other fancy-sounding sandwiches that they have, it seems their bread options are limited. The woman at the counter asked if I wanted white or wheat. No Dutch Crunch or fancy schmancy bread? The wheat was pretty good, but regardless... it would be nice to have some options... I think even Subway has more options in the bread department.

That and the fact that the place itself only has two tables and four chairs brings it down to four. Sure, the main reason to eat at Quizno's is to take the sandwich with you to wherever you're going... and you can also eat outside in the two or three other tables they have outside Ono's... but if my friends are eating inside, I'm pretty much screwed.

IHOP Review

Ok Yelp Elite member acceptance committee, here's my first actual business review coming at you like a Brazilian Jujitsu extended knee kick. My prior reviews were bullshit, but not this one. This shit is real.IHOP  saved my life last Tuesday.

I would personally like to thank IHOP and all of its shareholders (if this company isn't public it should be, franchising is for amatures) for the sobering 3000 calorie meal that allowed me to safely drive my car home from Union St after what I had promised myself would be a "one drink night" at Blue Light and Bar None.

IHOP on Lombard  is an oasis of culture within a homogeneous zone. The 4 egg, hash brown, 4 pancake, 4 slice bacon meal sobered me up and so did the cilentele. Favorites were the Latin Bill Gates look alike with light blue acid wash elastic waste band jeans sitting directly across from me with his arm around a Puerto Rican hooker wearing a red sheer body stocking and dude across the way with the kid n play cut (except not as cool or high) studying the yellow pages and me.

I had to subtract a star because I was burping bacon and pepto the next morning. And because it's IHOP.

Togo's/Baskin Robbins Review

Don't tell anyone, but I like Togos.
I know I know, I'm from San Francisco so I should turn my nose up at every franchised eatery in the city but what can I say...Togo's is pretty good!

Normally I like to go out of the office for lunch- clear the mind, stop looking at excel, change of scenery etc. But when I'm pressed for time, Togos is a good option.

I either order the Santa Fe Chicken Wrap or the "Endless Combinations" (half soup, salad or sandwhich) Veggie Soup and BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad. And my friend is obsessed with the lentil soup. The people are super friendly here and always say, "See you next time."  I guess they just know I'll be back.I definitely recommend their services.

Starbucks Review

Yeah its starbucks and berkeley hates starbucks but guess what berkeley! this starbucks is way better than any of your fair trade green self sustainable eco vegan free range organic hybrid yuppie hippe hiyuppie bs cafes!Lost of room, clean, the pastries & etc are stocked and a good variety at a reasonable price, friendly baristas, they work fast & they havent screwed up any of my orders yet (not that it matters cause theyd fix it without the moaning & groaning, hell theyd make a new one even if they didnt mess it up if i thought it tasted like crap) so hows that for your woodstock people's customer service? Im loyal to my franchising chain businesses!

Why? because they have well known and respected reputations to uphold not just some snobby "well if you dont like it, then its your problem cause all the people (the only people) that drink here are our loyal locals" attitude!

Berkeley with your peace & love so called open minds of freedom and understanding ohm~ well open your minds to big business thats successful cause it rocks!
Starbucks did not get where it is today, cause they meditated on it so take that tullys (& others that shall remain nameless at this time) that sucks hobo booty one block up!

Golden House Restaurant Review

Been coming here since I was a kid.  Good hearty authentic Vietnamese food.  The Fan Favorite IMPERIAL ROLLS!  they come out so crisp and crunchy, fried to perfection.  The appetizer plate comes with two rolls but don't be fooled by the small number.  The rolls are big and come out chopped into a few bite size pieces.  Many dishes also come with the imperial roll on the side.

I've had the opportunity to taste just about the entire menu as I have been coming to this small mom pop shop since I was in diapers. The Bo 7 Mon is also tasty.  When I was a kid I thought gross raw meat but the ceviche is really good now that my tastes have grown.

I was also surprised to see a "people love us on yelp" sticker in their window when I dropped by one day.  You can't help but love the small owned shops, sometimes they are more personable than the franchise restaurants.  The owners are always so happy and more than willing to cater to your needs.

I came last night 11/30/11 and was sad to find out that after 26 years this small restaurant was closing as the owners are retiring.  Sad to see such a great place go.  The prices were cheap and the food was good and filling.  The only downside was the restaurant smell that lingered on your clothes.. but dare I say it.. it's been many years at this restaurant and I may even miss the lingering smell of deep fried imperial rolls on my clothes.

As I was having my final meal other regulars also came in to eat and you know the place is good when costumers shed a few tears when they hear such an establishment is closing.  Golden House Restaurant will be missed.

I hope the owners enjoy their life in retirement =)
